Linnik (Lynnyk) Yury Vladimirovich,

born in 1944, was a writer, a poet, a doctor of Philosophy, a teacher at the Karelian Pedagogical University.

Yu. V. Linnik's first poems were published in 1959 in the youth newspaper. His first collection of poems called “Prelude” appeared in1966. It was followed by seven more collections. The poet transmits his philosophical views on nature as a unity to his poetry where,according to his words, “something big is repeated in something small and microcosm reflects macrocosm” and where “the unitymakes the world and space wonderful”.

Yu.V.Linnik published a series of books “My biosphere” (“Transparency”, “Parallel Universe”, “Birds fly to the North”, “A Book ofHerbs”, etc.) which combine ecological thinking with ethic attitude towards nature. He writes books for children (“Forest Theatre”, “ForestMail”). He is working on a big philosophical-mythological series “Krita Yoga” (49 brochures and a book “The Absolute” arepublished).

Uy.V.Linnik is also well known as a collector of Russian avant-garde. He created a Museum of Cosmic Art named after N.K.Rerich onthe basis of his collection. Yu.V.Linnik's book “In Search of Shambala” is devoted to the Rerichs.

Uy.V.Linnik heads the Center of studies of the CIS countries' spiritual culture and the Center of GULAG's spiritual culture studies. Hisworks are constantly published in the magazines of the CIS countries (“A New Magazine”, “Sides”, “Bulletin”).

Since university years Uy.V.Linnik has been actively involved in translating from the Finnish, English and French languages.

Documentary materials from Uy.V.Linnik's personal fund became a part of the National Archives of the Karelian Republic in 1997.Presently, information from the fund is being processed.
